Biography
Samuel Spagnola was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but has lived in North Carolina for most of his life. As a student at T.W. Andrews High School in High Point, NC, he was an active member of the debate team, and was involved in drama as well. As a student at Guilford College, Sam was a member of the North Carolina Student Legislature, and also wrote a weekly political column for the Guilfordian newspaper.

After graduating from Guilford College in 1995, Sam attended the Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas, Texas. In law school, Sam was the president of the Federalist Society, a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Mock Trial Team, the International Law Moot Court Team, the Board of Advocates, the American Inns of Court, and was selected to be the Chief Justice of the SMU Criminal Justice Clinic by the law school faculty. He began trying real criminal cases with the SMU Criminal Justice Clinic while he was still in law school, and before he graduated in 1998 he had already won two jury trials in the Texas state courts. He also worked as an intern for the Attorney General of Texas in Interstate Child Support Enforcement. More recently, he was a fellow at the Institute of Political Leadership.

Prior to returning to the Triad in 2001, Sam operated a law office in Concord, NC, where he practiced in the areas of Family Law and Criminal Law. He is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, and has represented clients in Guilford, Forsyth, Davidson, Randolph, Alamance, Rockingham, Rowan, Cabarrus, Stanly and Mecklenburg Counties.

My Philosophy
When people have trouble in the legal system, they want straight answers. However, it isn't always possible to make predictions based on an initial review of a case. Particularly in domestic law, the flow and direction of a case often changes during the course of litigation. But whether a case involves a domestic matter or a criminal matter, I try to provide my clients with my best insight based on my experience and the applicable law. I always stay informed of the latest cases and laws effecting each client's situation, and I'm not afraid to tell my client's something that they may not want to hear if it the situation calls for it. During a trial, I am an aggressive advocate for my clients, but I also understand that while "winning" is important, achieving the client's goals is even more important.
